Photography WorkshopsMono Lake/Bodie Registration or Email for more information Join me on the eastern side of the Sierras for two days as we photograph Mono Lake and Bodie State Park.
Mono Lake is an oasis in the dry Great Basin and a vital habitat for millions of migratory and nesting birds. Mono Lake and it's surrounding watershed encompasses a unique region in California. Sagebrush, Jeffery pins, volcanoes, tufa towers, gulls, grebes, brine shrimp, alkali flies, freshwater streams, and alkaline water comprise an unlikely world at the transition between the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Great Basin desert. The unusual rock formations, called Tufa, are limestone formed by calcium rich underwater springs that mix with the carbonates in the lake. The results are the unique formations that tower out of the water. Bodie State Historic Park is a genuine gold-mining ghost town. We will walk through the town that once populated 10,000 people. In 1875 gold was discovered and people flocked to Bodie and transformed it into a boomtown. You will spend two days shooting the unique light and textures from choice locations throughout these two unique locations. You will get hands-on instruction learning how to use your camera and improve your composition and workflow. This is the perfect opportunity for the serious photographer looking to expand your portfolio, or for the beginner wanting to learn more about your camera. Workshop Cost: $200 Lodging: Lee Vining, the main town at Mono lake, is located at highway 395 & 120 just east of Yosemite National Park.
